Jonathan Gysbers (he/him) is a Canadian actor, musician, composer and educator based out of Toronto, ON. He hold a Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance from Sheridan College and a Bachelor of Education (Artist in Community Education) from Queen’s University. As an actor, he has performed at theatres across Canada, including The Charlottetown Festival (Charlottetown, PEI), Stage West (Calgary, AB), Drayton Entertainment (ON), The Victoria Playhouse (Petrolia, ON), Magnus Theatre (Thunder Bay, ON), The Capitol Theatre (Port Hope, ON), The Grand Theatre (London, ON) and collaborated on various projects with The Canadian Musical Theatre Project, Just an Idea Collective and Garner Theatre Productions. Career highlights include playing Bob Gaudio in the inaugural production of Des McAnuff’s Tony Award wining production of Jersey Boys with Norwegian Cruise Lines, the Canadian regional premiere at Stage West Calgary (dir. Liz Gilroy) and at The Charlottetown Festival (dir. Adam Brazier).

As a musician, Jonathan has performed at variety of venues across Ontario and shared the stage with internationally acclaimed artists such as Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman and Ben Vereen. He has adapted various children’s books in TYA musicals, including Maurice Sendak’s Where The Wild Things Are and Kate DiCamillo’s The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, which was presented by Blue Canoe Productions in the 2021 Kingston Fringe Festival. This spring, Jonathan releases his debut EP - Ambrosia - a collection of songs inspired by ancient Greek myths and personal narratives. Blending folk with the storytelling flair of musical theatre, this Greco-folk epic features layered acoustic arrangements, poetic lyrics, and dazzling vocals. Through his music, Jonathan explores themes of love, identity, and the power of myth.
